We had a fight today. Nothing major, but it spiraled all the same. Hurting words, hurt feelings, and all about stuff that in the end, just ain't all that important. Why is it, that we let something so insignificant, take us over. Why do couples, turn on one another, when all it usually takes, is for one of them to back down, to just walk away for a minute and let things cool down? And then, after that, talk things over, more calmly.
I'm writing this because after the fight, I got on-line, and read some things that quickly put things into perspective. Things about other people. Truly important things, sad things, REAL things. Yes, we had already apologized to one another, but I gotta tell ya, I'm sitting here wishin' that we would never let ourselves go down this road. Because none of us, not one, knows what waits around the corner. And I would never forgive myself, if something happened, and our last words to one another were hurtful.
There's a reason why the bible says, don't let the sun go down on anger. And I need to start paying more attention to what it's telling me. With all the sad things that happen in the world, every single day, I don't want to look back and think sadly, of what I should've done.
