God finally aligned all the "stuff that's gotta happen" to get my long wanted new bike. Now when I walk past my beloved FZ6 of the last 5 years I feel guilty. Any of ya'll do that when you trade bikes? The younger crowd seems interested in it and two claim to be coming by to buy it. We'll see! Maybe if they don't buy it I can keep it and the new bike? Nah! Can't happen. Ever notice the younger crew doesn't call to talk to you, its all text...lol
I believe a man's bike says a lot about who he is. Trust me, I love the various bikes you guys and gals ride. The HD Road King would be my choice if I were going that route. I started riding in the 70's on those Universal Japanese Motorcycles. In 1980 I bought a Kawasaki Z1R, one of the first cafe racer looking bikes. Now I'm older, and my wife wants one with more comfort to pamper her on longer jaunts.
In the morning I'm putting some money down, until my loan money comes in a week or so from now, on a new 2013 Yamaha FJR 1300 with cruise control, traction control in wet weather, anti-lock brakes, the fairing screen raises and lowers, heated grips for winter, color matching top touring trunk that comes out in July, matching hard side cases, and it's supposed to handle fairly well in the mountain twisties. I love the cruiser attitude and style, and the sport bikes always get my blood flowing just seeing and hearing them. After all of the research I'll be different from my Gold Wing, Harley Davidson and other cruiser friends.
I guess this is the way it's meant to be. We are all different, with varying circumstances, likes and dislikes. This bike just fits me best, or so it seems for now. So I'll be different, but I've always wanted one of these and like it's sporty look among the longer distance riding crew. Hey! I love your bike. When you see me on mine take a close look at the bike I'm on. It says a lot about my motorcycling interests today.
