Patches are a great way to personalize clothing, jackets, and accessories. For those who want even more personalized patches, there is the option of embroidering custom designs on blank embroidered patches. An embroidery machine is crucial to this project, and you must understand how to use it before starting. Here are the basic steps for embroidering a patch.
Basic Steps for Embroidering a Blank Patch
- Draw or print your design onto a piece of adhesive embroidery paper, or stabilizer.
- Place the sticky paper with your design on it over the patch.
- Embroider your design onto the patch. An 11 or 12 sharp point needle is recommended.
- When done, remove the patch from the stabilizer, or adhesive paper.
Applying Your Patch
If your patch has an adhesive backing, you can go ahead and iron-on your patch. If it does not have an adhesive backing, you will need to sew the patch on, or apply fusing/bonding heat seal film to the back of the patch and you can iron it on.
