My good friend TigerLady (here on CF) has been doing something really great for the troops. The organization she started, M/C Mags for Millitary, collects cycle and other magazines (along with 'care package type items) and redistributes them to GI's throught the world. A simple thing you would think but it takes a lot of work.
She forwarded to me this thank you letter from one GI. NOW this is one GREAT way to show the men and women serving that we care. After reading this letter I felt even more proud to have this Lady as a close friend
If you can help, or just want to tell her how cool this is, send her a message. Her user name is
"tigerlady."
Dear Ms. Vincent,
I would like to take this time and thank you very much for the package I have received. It was, to say the least, a great surprise. To me, there are but a few great things in life, and one of them is knowing that there are persons in this country that still appreciate the service men and women who volunteer to help protect this country and the people in it. Every time I see in the papers or on the tv news how people protest the funerals of my fallen brothers and sisters, instills in me wonder of why I still do this. But, it is because of people like yourself and the M/C Patriot Riders, folks in the photo that you included (which will be hanging on my wall with HONOR), that make it all the more worth it.
Since I cannot thank everyone that was involved in this, I would like to ask you that you give a "Thank You" for me to each and every person that you can for me. I have served in the Army for many years, and I have to be honest that there are far and few times where I have been thanked for my service. This, I must admit, has to be one of the best Thank You's I have ever received.
Life here is not easy for any Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine regardless of our job. We face constant heat, dangerous animals, disease, and battle injury. It is not a life easily chosen. This is not a life for the faint of heart and mind. But, for those of us that have chosen this life, all (at least for me) we ask is that people keep us in their hearts, pray for our safe return, and just give a simple nod in recognition. We don't do this for the medals. We don't do this for the glory. We don't do this for the fame. We do this for the person standing next to us. We do this for our country. Only one who has served, is serving, or the families of, truly know what it is like. Only we can fully understand what it is like.
But as I said, it is due to persons like yourself that help keep our spirits high. Again, please say a thanks for me at the next event you have. You can even include my words here if you wish.
Until I, and every other person in uniform comes home, keep a light on for us. Say a prayer. And keep the support up.
Many Thanks Again,
