This awesome tour leads you though the interior of the Green Swamp. Shacks occupied by squatters living of whatever the swamp provides are scattered throughout. Life stood still, no signs of urban encroachment. After the long shady two lane road the journey moves into the lower part of the Witchlacoochee State Forest.
The roar of your steed muffles the sound of Gregorian chants by monks at St. Leo. The only traditional monastery South of the border. Then another country road leads right into a carbon copy of a Greek Harbor. It is classified as the sponge capital in the world. White painted stucco buildings line the working harbor.
Inside, restaurants, bakeries touting authentic Greek fare. Of course sponges of all sizes could be purchased anywhere in Tarpon Springs, the turn around point for the Greek Scenic Ride.
