St. Joseph County Special Olympics is hosting our 2nd Annual Rock N River Music Fest Corn & Sausage Roast on Saturday, July 29 th , 2017, at Kamm’s Island in Downtown Mishawaka. This event is to help raise awareness to the community about the sports programs that go on all year round that are provided to children & adults from the age of 8 years old and up that have intellectual disabilities and to get information out for new athletes.
We are also partnering with the local Lions Club here in town and they are going to be hosting a duck race down the St Joe or the channel between the island. The proceeds from their event will go half to St Joe County Special Olympics and the other half to the Mishawaka Parks Department for new equipment in the parks.
The Michiana Corvette Club & the St. Joe Valley Street Rods will hopefully be sponsoring a People’s Choice Car Show again this year. We will have vendors of all sorts with their arts, crafts, or small business booths. Special Guests we hope to include are The 501 st Star Wars characters and the Disney Frozen characters dressing up thru out the day. We will be having music thru out the day and early evening, a beverage garden and a Corn & Sausage roast including an ice cream and elephant ear vendor.
We also are sponsoring a 50 mile Motorcycle ride that will leave out of the park at 11:30 a.m.
All proceeds of this event go to our local athletes and helps aid them in participating in local, regional and state games as well as for new uniforms and equipment. We try to underwrite every aspect of our events with donations.
