I would be curious to see how much this will affect the rates for medical insurance coverage on a riders insurance policy.Typically the max limit offered under a standard motorcycle policy out here is 5000. each-rider & pass. I carry the minimum 1000 rider & pass.Yet I also carry Uninsured Motorist which gives me medical exp coverage up to 15000 if someone else nails me w/out coverage.
The law is what the people wanted,in so much as offering an option to wear or not wear a helmet. If the cost to increase the limits of coverage to the required amount is prohibitve then it most likely would not fall under my defintion of "fair" if it discriminates against certain cash constrained parts of our communitytypically a lot of insurance rates are set on a geographic area which often delineates certain areas as "high risk" which is fair & reasonable from an underwriting standpoint,yet unfair & arbitrary seeming to the consumer, who... less

The insurance requirement will be changed as it has in other states to accomodate out of state riders. I'm not sure but I think it has something to do with "tarrifs between states" which is not particularly legal in the U.S.
