    Dallas (Texas) Law clarifications
Hey guys...I just moved to Dallas TX and wanted to know a few things so that I am not flagged in the name of law... 1. Helmet Law - "riders are not required to wear a helmet with proof of successful completion of rider training or $10,000 of medical insurance covering injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident" So will this stand for me since I hold a Virginia License? I have completed my rider training from Virginia...will that count in here? I don't go without helmet anywhere but wanted to clarify just n case of any emergency. Also, what about helmet law for the pillion rider? Any idea on that? 2. Neon LED's - I have LED's on my bike. From what I researched a bit on this, I got the info that No BLUE and RED color lights are allowed while riding. Simliarly, no blinking lights are allowed. I can however ride with solid lights other than Red and Blue. Please let me know if this is correct or I am wrong on that one and can't ride with any LED's...    less

It's a bit ambitious for a first bike but I fell deep in love and it just felt right. It's a Suzuki LS650 Savage with a bobber kit. I was hoping for some advice as far as starting out or wether I should buy another bike on the side to learn on first. Also hoping there might be some cruiser riders out there in Montgomery Al that could show me the ropes in person and be an active riding partner. I'm also open to hearing "shut up", "go away" or anything else  cuz I'm not to sure how this site works yet. Thanks for any help.  -TreadThread  less

I am looking for people to ride with and new friends. I will be 50 in 7 days, lost 20 lbs, and want to live it up a little lol. I am currently single, just bought a house, so I'm poor, rescued 2 kittens, kept them, and don't want to be "crazy cat lady down the street". I love to ride, prefer to be backseat, have great friends, all couples, and need all the riding, event, places to go advice I can get. So, thanks for checkin' me out, hope to hear from you. Have a great day and keep your wheels on the road  less

  • Message I started with bikes probably when I was 15-16. Been riding Standard bikes all time until now here in US where I got the Busa. Passionate bout riding!
Used to ride 3-4 hours at a stretch without a break...not sure if I could do that anymore though.
Used to race, in streets, in traffic and do all sorts of crazy things. But that was when young...now its been more safe with being more mature.

Just hope that every time I ride, I ride safe...for me ...my family....and anyone else out there around me!

  • LCStrat Anyone going to the Sturgis, KY bike rally July 13 - 15? I'll be on a 2013 Yamaha FJR 1300 with a Faith Riders crew, or at FBC Sturgis at a shower and clothes washing trailer. I've been off of the site for a while. Hope to maybe see some Cycle Fish peeps in Sturgis, KY.

The IE is more vulnerable to hacks. Firefox is more robust in that case....Google Chrome is good as well. However Chrome will spawn a lot of processes which take up memory.
One important thing in Firefox is if you have asked it to save passwords you can always go and check which ones they are under "Tools -> Options - Security" (Keep this to a minimum to prevent any hacks).

Thanks! I try to be out of the radar of cops ...but you never know
Just to add...the WHITE light is also not allowed.

Please see "Sec. 547.305. RESTRICTIONS ON USE OF LIGHTS."

That is a sweet looking bike.....just ride slow and safe and you would never see a scratch on that bike! (at least till you get pro)
Keep that finger on the horn....its an amazing attention grabber!
    Ride safe!

Hey guys...I just moved to Dallas TX and wanted to know a few things so that I am not flagged in the name of law...

    1. Helmet Law - "riders are not required to wear a helmet with proof of successful completion of rider training or $10,000 of medical insurance covering injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident"

So will this stand for me since I hold a Virginia License? I have completed my rider training from Virginia...will that count in here?
I don't go without helmet anywhere but wanted to clarify just n case of any emergency.
Also, what about helmet law for the pillion rider? Any idea on that?

    2. Neon LED's - I have LED's on my bike. From what I researched a bit on this, I got the info that No BLUE and RED color lights are allowed while riding. Simliarly, no blinking lights are allowed. I can however ride with solid lights other than Red and Blue. Please let me know if this is correct or I am wrong on that one and can't ride with any LED's on.

Sometimes there are clauses where the rules of the State issuing the license are applied over the State where you are actually riding. I am nto sure if that is true in case of Virginia License holders. If anyone has any knowledge and can share here, it would be awesome.

    Thanks in advance,
    Aj
