About Our Business
Backroads Touring Kansas was founded 24 years ago when Roger B. Baugh saddled up his KLR650 and ventured out on a solo ride to the Gypsum Hills. The thought occurred to him that there may be other motorcycle riders who wanted to explore the backroads of Kansas and he created https://ww.backroadstouring.org/kansas/opening.htm as a way to connect like minded riders for group rides. 2005 marked the first Stampede in Council Grove, Kansas and then in 2007 the group was noticed by Roadrunner, a national print/web motorcycle travel magazine. The senior editor came out, toured the Flint Hills and complimented Roger for one of the most comprehensive motorcycle adventure touring sites, at that time. Over the years the group has grown to over 3k members through the addition of social media. We enjoy getting off the main roads and seeing where the adventure takes us. Riders schedule impromptu rides, discuss bikes, gear and post lots of pictures of our exploits. We also send at least one deserving kid to Camp Wood every year and make donations to other state based charity's. Everyone is encourage to join the Facebook group and check out the website.
