    road trip
Planning a ride from Atlanta Ga. to Tombstone, Az. end of July/beg of August. Basically following I-20 with some off highway scenic detours. Any advice or suggestions on must sees & dos and safety, cautions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all!

    Transmission Splined Shifter Shaft

I carry some tools with me, so I was able to put it back together. weird thing was there's a 1/4 inch screw that goes through lever and rides in a groove in the shaft. the screw was still in there, tight as hell. the shaft didn't look particularly worn, but somehow it squeezed out past that screw. to think that's all that holds you shift linkage on is just stupid. rode from Tenn. to Ill. watching that damn shifter more than the road. anyway, put a new screw in, been okay since. it's just a regular hardware store screw. I think it only has to wear a tiny bit to be a problem. fyi, thought of using a hardened screw, but that might wear the groove in the shaft. easier to replace the screw every couple years. seems like a pretty sloppy design for a...    less

    hard turn over
my '06 sporty 1200 cranks like the battery is dead. it will give a couple good, hard turns then hardly turn at all. I've replaced the battery & kept it charged. Lights are bright. Would this be a starter problem? Any ideas? Thanks for any help

    Tips for New Riders
I've only been riding for about 3 years. so, in no way do I consider myself experienced. this is a great topic for us newer riders, but also great just to see other riders safety habits/concerns. so thanks for the insight!
