Hmmm, I think I should stay out of this one.....even on TV on "Family Guy" it was said that the game originated in England...lol...
Football refers to a number of sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with the foot to score a goal. The most popular of these sports worldwide is association football, more commonly known as just "football" or "soccer". Unqualified, the word football applies to whichever form of football is the most popular in the regional context in which the word appears, including association football, as well as American football, Australian rules football, Canadian football, Gaelic football, rugby league, rugby union and other related games. These variations of football are known as football codes.
Various forms of football can be identified in history, often as popular peasant games. Contemporary codes of football can be traced back to the codification of these games at English public schools in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. The influence and power of the British Empire allowed these rules of football to spread, including to areas of British influence outside of the directly controlled Empire, though by the end of the nineteenth century, distinct regional codes were already developing: Gaelic Football, for example, deliberately incorporated the rules of local traditional football games in order to maintain their heritage. In 1888, The Football League was founded in England, becoming the first of many professional football competitions. In the twentieth century, the various codes of football have become amongst the most popular team sports in the world.
Football eh? FOOT-BALL? Some kind of clue in the name there, right?

there is a "myth" that when trade unions were being formed in the 1800's in England and the workers in various shipyards and mines were coming together to demand fair pay and working conditions the employers came up with a plan. They formed football teams in all their factories, mines and shipyards and created competition between the workers, which eventually grew and caused divisions amongst the workers, reducing their collective power to agitate for fair pay....look at the origional names for some of the most famous of clubs, they were mostly "company" names. Divide and conquer was the motto of the day................... "myth?" I wonder !
Now less of the politics...............c'mon the Bengals!!!!!!!

Well the Jaguars won by one point over the Super Bowl champs (Giants), but to tell you the truth, I wasn't at all impressed. I LOVE my Jags, but with Mularkey as head coach, and Bratkowski on board as offensive coordinator, we have to hope the team "buys in" to their philosophies. Didn't work for them with the Falcons (hence the reason they both were available), but maybe Shahid Khan see's something we don't. Let us pray. They seem to think running the ball more is going to "open the team up". But we have a young QB with a "throwing" mentality, and arm. Don't really know much about Chad Henne, cause there was zero interest in the Dolphins.
So we'll have to wait and see. I can't wait to see how this all "plays" out...lol
